Purpose
Super Connect For Good 2023 powered by Hays and Empact Ventures is a global tech for good competition. The competition consists of 2 entrance points “Regional” and via (“Innovation” verticals). The innovation entries are narrowed down to 10 finalists for each vertical by our selected innovation partners. Between 5-10 regional finalists will then be shortlisted from the 1st round judging process and passed to our selected regional judges who will select one (“Winner”) from each Region.
The second phase is the innovation finalist will go head to head and pitch to the innovation partner at our Top 100 Showcase Event 5th October 2023. The regional winners will be announced at the event and will be invited to pitch and compete at the 29th November Virtual Final for a chance to win the global title and (the “Global Prize”), the innovation winners will also be announced and provided (the “Partner Prize”) via our partners.
Key Dates;
- Applications open on 19th May 2023 and close 11 pm on 17th July 2023 (Unless otherwise notified by Empact). Any participation received after the expiry of the competition period will be deemed invalid. Empact and Hays have no responsibility to accept late, lost, delayed, or misdirected participation.
- 75th September Innovation Vertical Finalist announced
- 5th October Top 100 Innovation Verticals
Obligations and responsibilities of the Applicant
Applications must adhere to the following rules and eligibility criteria. Once selected as a finalist, the applicant agrees to attend and present their Pitch during our Top 100 Showcase Event on 5th October 2023 and 29th November Virtual Final. The applicant is solely responsible for any costs related to the participation in the competition.
Eligibility Criteria
- Tech for Good Criteria
- Tech for Good is a responsible approach to technology to address social, environmental and economic challenges. In this context, technology is built in a collaborative, user-led way and implemented with ethical consideration to ensure the rights of the people are respected.
- Your company must be able to demonstrate that you have created or aim to create a social impact and/or are enhancing people’s lives through technology in any area including but not limited to education, healthcare, local communities, public sector services, the environment or others.
- Stage of Company for Regional & Innovation Judging: If you’d like to compete to be a Regional Winner or an Innovation Vertical Winner you must be able to categorise yourself in one of the following stages of maturity
- Pre-Seed Startups we’d expect you to have a working prototype, little to no funding, traction or exposure; initial seed capital between £/€0 -75,000
- Tech Startup (Seed Stage) with a working Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or beta version, the initial founding team with initial seed capital between £/€75,000 – £/€500,000 and ideally though not essential some traction or initial revenue
- Tech Scale-up (Series A) – with a scalable product, solid team with Series A funding between £/€1m – £/€10m with a growing user base traction and solid revenue
- Tech Scale-up (Series B) – with a scalable product, solid team with Series A funding between £/€10m – £/€50m with a growing user base traction and solid revenue
- Series C or D scale-ups are not eligible to apply to the competition
Geographically Based
Your company must be based in one of our 10 regions. On your application form, you should select the region of your legally registered office, not where you as the applicant is based
- France and BeNeLux: Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium
- Southern Europe: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain
- Central and Eastern Europe: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine
- DACH & Nordics: Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Switzerland
- All applicants to the DACH and Nordic region will be valid if and only if you fill in the consent form in the confirmation email sent following your submission
- Celtic Regions: Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Wales and Scotland
- England – South West, Midlands, East, North West, North East
- England – London and South East
- Australia and New Zealand
- South and South-East Asia: India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand
- East Asia: China and Japan and Hong Kong SAR

- Impact Challenge: This will welcome applicants to outline how their innovations can be adapted to support crises around the globe: This years focus is Water Crisis
- Impact Challenge: Mental Health and Wellbeing Challenge recongnising individuals or companies that use tech to create or adapting or already supports mental health and wellbeing

Additional Rules not mentioned above
- The Promoter of the Competition is Empact Ventures Ltd (herein “Empact Ventures”), providing the Competition in conjunction with Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and its affiliates (herein “Hays”)
- All applicants will strictly observe the rules and terms
- Entrants must not enter work that has been banned by any regulatory bodies in any country
- All applications must be in English
- All applicants must be 18 years or over and shall not include employees of Hays and/or Empact Ventures, or their families, agents, or third parties directly associated with administration of the Competition;
- The Competition is free to enter and no purchase is necessary;
- Empact Ventures and Hays accept no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, network or server failure of any kind;
- If you do not complete all questions, we cannot guarantee your applications will be selected for our judging process
- Please answer all questions accurately as a true reflection of your business and please note that we conduct a strict due diligence process to ensure this is correct
- Should your company wish to withdraw its application, this must be done by 1st August 2023
- This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. Each entry will be individually judged based on Tech for Good, Aggregate Social Impact, Measuring Impact, Key Milestones, and Future Vision
- The judges’ decision in relation to any aspect of the Promotion will be final and binding on every person who enters.
- Empact Ventures reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
- Insofar as is permitted by law, Empact Ventures and Hays will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Empact Ventures. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- Winners may be required to participate in publicity related to the competion which may include the publication of their name and photograph in any media or social media.
- The competition will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw shall submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.

Intellectual property
The Applicant grants Empact Ventures and Hays a non-exclusive personal license to use its brand and logo worldwide. This license is used to communicate on the Super Connect For Good Competition (including future editions), particularly on social networks and the website.
The Applicant authorises Empact Ventures to record and film and take photos of their pitch and share these via its channels.
Winners will be mentioned in our series of press publications distributed globally with company name, graphics and quotes and Innovation Winners will be mentioned in the Hays 2023 Tech For Good Report. Example of the 2021 report https://www.hays.co.uk/it/super-connect-for-good
Personal data
Empact Ventures collects, directly or indirectly, personal data about the Applicants which is subjected to automatic processing in order to:
- Communicate to the applicant around all aspects related to the competition
- Make super connections. A main part of the competition is to connect applications to partners and supporters based on mutual interests and business challenges
- Information is passed to relevant judges and partners in relation to the competition. This includes Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and its affiliates. This competition is run in collaboration with Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and its affiliates (“Hays”). All personal information will be treated in the strictest of confidence and in accordance with the applicable Hays privacy policy for the territory: .

Empact and Hays liability
Empact and Hays reserve the right to modify, extend, shorten, suspend or cancel the Competition without notice, due to any event and without any indemnity of any kind. Empact and Hays reserve the right to take any decisions that it deems useful for the application and interpretation of the Rules. Empact and Hays can disqualify any applicant without notice for applications that do not adhere to these rules. Empact and Hays reserve the right to remove any application for any other reason, or if they provide false information during our due diligence.
Criteria applicable to the Winner:
The winner’s responsibility is to ensure that they receive their prize from our partners. They may be obliged to follow additional criteria or provide extra information to the partner. This will need to be discussed with the partner.
Prizes will be issued between 1 – 12 months after winning. The timescale of using your prize is then at the discretion of the partner. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for monetary value. The value of the prices is final and binding and cannot be challenged or appealed
In order to feature in the yearly Tech for Good report, the Hays marketing team will send you questions about your company. We ask that you reply to those questions within three weeks of receiving them.
